On Wednesday night, it was jeremiahboyce.com’s first look at the new Bismarck Larks. Instead of the Larks winning, the Duluth Huskies pulled away at the end for 10-4 final score. Scott Borgmann was tagged with the L. The Larks are under new management this year with Mark Weidemaier, otherwise known as the field manager. Bismarck had trouble keeping the Huskies off the bases. That led to a spirited game, one in which the Larks hit a home run and were ahead. But the Larks succumbed to the Huskies’ powerful offense. Bismarck was rather anemic on the night. Aside from the home run, they could only manage a couple of base hits. The Larks need to practice more, especially in the art of pitching. There were five birdie errors, and that doesn’t help when you are attempting to come from behind.

It was a comfortable night to observe a ball game, and the park has some good food. The screen did a good job of protecting the fans from foul balls, and there were several on the night, especially from the Larks.

Mt next observance of Larks baseball will be July 7.
