The Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians have no qualms about facing each other in this weekend’s four game series. On one side of Target Field tonight you have the Indians, last year’s defending American League Champion, and on the other side of the field, you have the Twins who were only able to win 59 games last year, but things have changed since last year. Cleveland currently finds themselves in second place, two games behind the first place Twins in the AL Central Division this season so far.
The outcome of this series could come down to the art of pitching. The Twins current top two starting pitchers, Ervin Santana and Jose Berrios, will not see time on the mound as they were the last two starting pitchers for the Twins in their previous series against the Seattle Mariners. Also, you don’t know what results you will get out of the Twins bullpen at various times and hopefully you will not see Twins catcher and former Indian Chris Gimemez making his fifth mound appearance this series.
Hopefully this will be a well played series for the Twins and that they can improve on their current 14-20 record at Target Field this season. They could find themselves with anywhere from a six game lead or trailing the Indians by two games by the end of the weekend.
