The “Voice” of the Bobcats, Paul Teeple, was nice enough to give the Sheriff’s Patrol a look at what he expects between this weekend’s home and home NAHL Central Division battles between the Bismarck Bobcats and the Minot Minotauros, beginning Friday night at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck for the Bobcats home opener of the 2018-19 season.
Teeple was complimentary to Head Coach Marty Murray of Minot for their 5-1 start to the season for the defending Central Divison champions, giving up only two goals in their current five game winning streak. Meanwhile, the 4-2 Bobcats have a lot of room for improvement, according to Teeple, with their five on five play, as evidenced by the long, intense practice I witnessed today at the VFW Center.
You never know what you will see on Friday night in the first game of their twelve game series this season, which the Tauros claimed last year. But who knows what will happen this year with these young players? There are two bright spots that the Bobcats have shown so far this season, and that is goal tending and defense. They were very slow in coming together in their four games at the Showcase in Blaine, Mn., but have since shown signs of jelling in their play, which does take time to do over the early part of an NAHL season.
I am really looking forward to how these two teams play against each other, as the Tauros will be the Bobcats’ opponents in their first four games in October.
