Today on the Wednesday Sheriff’s Patrol, we will give you a look at a whole new level. You will hear from Bobcats general manager and head coach Layne Sedevie on what it takes to get 18 to 21 year olds to the next level. For the first two years, it is the player’s responsibility to earn the respect of the coaches. But as the years go along within the coach’s circle, the coaches get a little more seasoning and earn the respect of the college’s head coach that the boys choose to play with. People become more aware of your coaching style and how you bring the young men up from the junior level to the D1 level.
It is very hard to garner a spot in the D1 locker room. Coach Sedevie was very quick to point out the goalie position, because he himself was a former goalie. The first name that came out of his mouth was former Bismarck Bobcat Shepherd, who is now with the UMD Bulldogs. He went on to add the Robertson Cup winning goalie Ryan Faragher, who won the Bobcats’ only Robertson Cup and went on to the next level at St. Cloud State.
