Bismarck, North Dakota. With the regular season over, the defending NAHL champions look ahead to round 1 of the NAHL playoffs. On Wednesday night, jeremiahboyce.com sat down with hometown hero Layne Sedevie, the head coach of the defending NAHL champions, your Bismarck Bobcats. The first question we posed to coach Sedevie was “What scares him the most about first round opponent Alexandria.” Sedevie stated, “They have good forwards and one guy to keep your eye on Bobcat fans is Nardo Nagtzaam. Nardo has been a real Bobcat killer.” In order to move on, the Bobcats must take Nardo away from Alexandria. Next on the agenda for former Bull player Layne Sedevie was why he didn’t start the captain, number thirty-one, Ryan Faragher. During the Bobcats 5-4 defeat on Sunday in Alexandria, Sedevie said, “I wanted to give Ryan some rest.” The next area we wanted to touch on was if Layne felt any added pressure being the head Bobcat. To which Sedevie replied, “No, I don’t really feel any added pressure being the head coach.” We also asked coach what he brings from his days as a Bull. Layne brings a wealth of knowledge to the Bobcat bench from a player’s perspective and he knows how to pick up player’s spirits. Coach Sedevie was asked, “What would make the Bobcats coaching staff comfortable coming out of Alexandria?” Sedevie stated, “We would like to be up two games to none but if the Bobcats can’t be up two games to none, they would take a tie of the series.” After jeremiahboyce.com was done with the head coach, we moved on to Nikolaj Rosenthal. Rosenthal stated, “I think we are better than the Blizzard and we are going to win.” Rosenthal also told jermiahboyce.com that Alexandria’s goalie isn’t very good with the puck, so the Bobcats are going to fire a lot of rubber at Alexandria’s goalie. When asked if Nikolaj was coming back in a Bobcat uniform next year, he said anything could happen, but as of right now his plans are to return to Bismarck next year. When asked if Nikolaj plays any head games with Alexandria, “Not really,” he stated. Moving on, we asked him about his goalie and his captain, Ryan Faragher. We asked him if he felt comfortable with him in the net. He said “Yes, I feel very comfortable with either one in the net, Ryan Faragher or Tommy Burke.” Both Nikolaj and the coach said they would like to be up two games to none. The one thing that jermiahboyce.com learned about the defending champs is that they are not afraid of Alexandria, even though the Blizzard owned a 10-2 regular season record against the Bobcats.
