This weekend, the Bismarck Bobcats and the Austin Bruins do battle in a two game series having critical meaning. These two teams are currently in a first place tie with the Aberdeen Wings, and could find themselves in fifth place after Saturday’s game if things do not go right for either team two nights in a row.
The Bobcats will be looking for payback after the Bruins swept them earlier this month by identical 2-1 scores at the VFW Sports Center, according to Assistant Head Coach Garrett Roth.
In other news and notes, also according to Roth, the Bobcats must improve on their man advantage when they have the opportunity to do so, as they are currently ranked last on the power play of all 23 teams in the league. The Bobcats were working on that particular subject at their Wednesday morning practice. The hope is that newcomer Joseph Mancuso, who the Bobcats acquired in a trade the week of Thanksgiving with the Northeast Generals, will bring a spark to their struggling power play unit. He did score a goal in Saturday’s victory over the Aberdeen Wings.
