Bismarck, North Dakota. The Bismarck Bobcats are now 5-3-0 after taking their second straight Central Division series and earning their second sweep over a Central Division foe. This time it was over Justin Mexico and the North Iowa Bulls. On Friday night, the Captain Patrick Johnson had the only goal and it was Bismarck 1 Bulls 0. On Saturday night, the Bobcats got off to an early 3-0 lead, and the offense would score two more goals and win the game 5-0. In the net for the Bobcats was Klayton Knapp, and he wasn’t napping! He was busy trying his best to keep the Bulls and Mexico off the scoreboard. The crowd was a sellout crowd at the VFW Sports Center, and this reporter was there on Friday. It was the season lid lifter on their home ice. I thought Layne Sedevie was way too critical of his team on Friday night because to me, when you have a 0-0 hockey game, both goalies are standing on their heads. I thought Klayton Knapp played extremely well in both games. So what if he needed help from the Captain? I also thought that the Bobcats were trying hard enough to win the game by more than just one goal, and you have to give Santo Simmchen, the North Iowa goalie, a lot of props for his effort on Friday night.
Coming up is a weekend off before the Bobcats hit the road for two in St. Cloud on October 13 and 14.
