After yesterdays reeling in of the Tampa Bay Rays, the Cubs now turn their attention for one day to their nemesis from the north, the first place NL Central Milwaukee Brewers.
Although the Cubs seem to be floundering with a .500 record of 42-42, the defending World Series Champions are currently only 3.5 games back of the Brewers in second place. With 78 games left to play, the Cubs still have plenty of time for their hitting and pitching to improve.
Anthony Rizzo is capable of hitting a long bomb off any pitcher he faces at any time, just like Jon Jay did yesterday in helping to give manager Joe Maddon his first victory against his former team. Hopefully the comeback win yesterday can get the Cubs back on a roll and the fans can start to see the winning baseball again that they were use to seeing last year.
I still believe in the Cubs this season as every team goes through adversity sometime when they play 162 games each year. It’s how you pull together as a team and I believe Joe Maddon and pitching coach Chris Bosio are the right combination to help the Cubs go back to back this season.
