Thursday night at the Pepsi Center, North Dakota’s dream of winning an 8th title in the last 11 years came to a halt. The boys from Chestnut Hill, Mass. have an outstanding freshman goalie (John Muse) and an outstanding firepower offense that was led by #9 Nathan Gerbe. The Sioux were held at bay until late in the third period. ND looked tired and unenergized which earned them a trip back to Grand Forks. Meanwhile, for the soaring Eagles, it will earn them a trip to play for college hockey’s ultimate trophy, the National Championship. Final Score: 6-1, Eagles.
In other college hockey…
On Thursday it was the Irish and the Wolverines in the second semi-final. Whoever plays the Eagles, if you don’t jump on them early, they’ll suck the life out of you. If you don’t come ready to play in the first period, it’s goodnight National Championship.
