The Bobcats will play seven of their ten games in February at the VFW Sports Center which will give the Cats time to sleep in their own beds for most of the month. The VFW Sports Center has not been friendly to Bismarck as most of the opposing teams have been able to come away with points. Since December 1st, the Bobcats are 4-4 on their own ice. Currently in fifth place in the NAHL Central Division, three points behind the fourth place Minot Minotauros.
The Bobcats need to fatten up on their home cooking in February and it must start this weekend as they host the Minnesota Wilderness for two games, who are in third place just four points ahead of the Bobcats. There is no excuse why the Bobcats should not come away with at least three points this Friday and Saturday against the Wilderness. They need to start gaining on the teams ahead of them in the standings as nine of their ten games will be against teams currently ahead of them.
Assistant Coach Garrett Roth was nice enough to respond to my questions as he stated “The Bobcats are working on their shooting and power play opportunities in practice so far this week and the guys know the importance of also coming away with points against Minnesota.” Coach Roth also said “That the next eight games are very important to the Bobcats playoff hopes.”
