First, let’s start on the girls side of the ledger. Is Mandan’s reign coming to an end? If the Braves want to see a sixth title, there are three teams that will challenge them in the West: Andrea Ronderos’ Bismarck Demons, Ron Metz’s Century Patriots, and Todd Magnuson’s Minot Majettes. Sure, the Mandan Braves have Ali Collins, but Ali won’t be able to carry all the load. They need to get balanced scoring from all of the starters and reserves off the bench. Also, they can’t rely on one player; they have to have others be Ali’s supporting cast.
Let’s turn our attention to the gentlemen’s side of things, where we find a legend’s team sitting on top of the basketball kingdom. Ryan Malm, Luke Martinez, and Jordan Wilhelm are gone from the Demon’s team that laid claim to last year’s state title. How much will that affect their ability to defend and go to the boards? How many points will these Demons be able to get in the paint? How well will they be able to shoot the three-ball? BHS comes in as the #4 seed.
This double-dip of basketball delirium starts on Thursday afternoon, at 2:00 p.m. for the ladies, and 3:00 p.m. for the gentlemen. JeremiahBoyce.com will have you covered. You won’t miss a minute of the pandemonium. I will be focusing on first year head coach, Andrea Ronderos and her girls as they try to deny Mandan of a seventh title.
On the boys’ side, I will cover the legend’s Demons as they go for back-to-back crowning as kings.
Hey Jeremiah,
Think the Mandan girls are gonna lose, huh! Don’t count them out. Emily will come through–along with the rest of the team!
Your friend from the Bobcats game who goes to Mandan High, Kristy Ziniel, says “Hi” and will see you on Friday. She said she helps you with the elevator sometimes. I’m subbing in her room this period.
