In the NCAA Championship, it was the team who hadn’t lost but one game all year long, the Memphis Tigers, and the much talked about Kansas Jayhawks. The Sheriff had been going with the Jayhawks or the TarHeels to win the championship. Saturday night marked the end of junior Tyler Hansbrough, as the Jayhawks soared to the championship game. Fast forward to Monday night, the Tigers and the Jayhawks went into overtime, but the Jayhawks would not be denied their first championship since 1988. It was head coach Bill Self’s first championship. It was the Jayhawks who would have the last “chirp.” For the Tigers, there was one team who could tame them, and that team was KU. On this night, it would be KU’s one shining moment. KU’s will proved to be deadly to the Tigers. All tournament long, it was the Jayhawks who soared above the rest of the competition. Kansas proved to be worthy of the #1 seed. Final Score: Kansas 75, Memphis 68.
