I attended my first Bismarck Larks home baseball game last Saturday evening at Municipal Ballpark, and I was very impressed, once we found our seats, with the way the host team announced the starting lineup for both teams. You could not tell that the Duluth Huskies were the visiting team, as very friendly music was played over the public address system when the Duluth players were introduced. When the Larks players were introduced, the fans were ready to welcome the “Boys of Summer” back to Bismarck after their eight game road trip to three states.
Another moment that I was very moved by was when 13 year old Ethan Mueller was honored by the Larks in his “Home Run For Life” along with Sanford Health against his congenital heart defect.
The Huskies had more bite in their game as the Larks were unable to soar, losing the game 6-5, after trailing 6-1 entering the bottom of the eighth inning at a sold out night at the Bismarck ballpark.
I am very excited to see another brand of baseball being played here in Bismarck. With these college age players and with the fans continued support, the Northwoods League will be here for a very long time.
