On Thursday night it was seventh heaven for the Winnipeg Jets as they departed Nashville a 5-1 victor over last years Western Conference Champion Predators knocking out Predators goalie Pekka Rinne at ten minutes into the first period clearing the Jets for takeoff into the Western Conference Championship where they will host the first year expansion team Vegas Knights starting on Saturday evening.
The city of Winnipeg is going crazy right now over their Jets as they are eight victories away of bringing Mr. Stanley’ Cup to the province of Manitoba. A big reason why the Jets are still flying in the air is because of former NAHL Odessa Jackalope goalie Connor Hellebuyck who has given up an average of 2.25 goals a game for the Jets first two series in twelve games with a .927 save percentage.
This proves that the NAHL can bring in talented goaltenders to their league which includes former Bismarck Bobcat Hunter Shepard who led Minnesota-Duluth to the NCAA Hockey Championship in April.
