Indianapolis, Indiana – Going into Indy I had thought that Jimmie would be a possible candidate to win the Brickyard 400. On Sunday, it was total domination by Johnson and his crew. This win tied him with his hero Rick Mears and his car owner Jeff Gordon for number of wins at the famous track. Also, it sent a warning to Tony Stewart and the rest of the field that you will have to deal with #48 in the chase for the Sprint Cup. I want to talk about the new points leader in the Sprint Cup series. Ladies and gentlemen, from HMS, your new Sprint Cup points leader. Please welcome, Dale Earnhardt Jr!
On Saturday at the famous Brickyard, Brad Keselowski earned Roger Penske’s first win in a stock car at Indy but not without controversy. The Nationwide Series points leader Elliot Sadler was black flagged for jumping a restart which created the controversy. In my opinion, Elliot knows the rules and if you are shown the black flag you must heed it, which he did not do. It will be interesting to see if there is fallout from Indy over this. From the Brickyard, both series move on. The Sprint Cup series moves on to Pocono and Nationwide goes to Iowa.
