JeremiahBoyce.com caught up with BHS senior, Carlie Buechler, to take a look at the lady Demons chances to bring home the hardware at the State Championship. She thought the Demon effort to get to State was a little nerve racking at times. “You cant think of it as that, though, you just got to go out and play your game. We knew we just had to play like we always have throughout the season. By working hard, getting up and down the floor, and getting stops on the defensive end, we would come out with the win.” Carlie stated of the West Region, “all coaches and players would like to come out with the number one seed, but this coming weekend is what really matters.
We’re going in as the number three seed. We’re in a good bracket and im really confident in my team and I believe we can make it to the late Saturday night game.” Buechler thinks that if the Demons are able to obtain a State Title it would be the highlight of her senior season. “That’s every athletes dream, to leave high school with a title in some sport that you participated in. All the sweat, hard work and extra hours that my team have put into basketball, is what it takes to get to that final game,” she said. “Bringing back that state title would be the highlight of my high school career and will never be forgotten.” Buechler stated about being a senior, “you have extra pressure. It means that your a leader on the team. As a leader, you need to lead by example, support your teammates, and keep the team unity together. Our coach expects a lot out of us seniors, and all of us have done a really good job this year.” After Buechler is done lacing up the sneakers with the Demons, she has aspirations of playing college basketball. “I plan to get a double major in college; one in Physical Education and one in Health Education. I also intend to play basketball, but not sure where yet. I am just waiting till after this basketball season to decide where I would like to go,” the lady Demon stated.
