Even though Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuck are gone, this year’s Red Wings have plenty of talent similar to the Red Wings of the past. With last night’s 5-2 win in Dallas, the Red Wing have a choke hold in the Western Conference finals, 3 games to none. No Stevie Y, no problem. Niklas Lidstrom is quite an able captain. One more win by the Red Wings and the Star’s bright light will be put out. No matter when or where it comes, this years Red Wings appear to be unstoppable. Chris Osgood has done a more than able job of replacing “The Dominator” Dominik Hasek. Only one question remains… can the Red Wings shut down Sidney Crosby? Only time will tell. If the first two rounds are any indication, the answer will likely be yes. The Red Wings have a coach that is destined for coach of the year, Mike Babcock. It’s up to the Red Wings. The Stanley Cup is there for them to bring back to Hockey Town. That’s what every team dreams of, giving their city the Lord Stanley Cup. The Red Wings are on the verge of having a showdown with “Sid the Kid.” Can the Red Wings teach him a lesson, or will Sid bring Pittsburgh a Penguin Cup? Not since Mario Lemieux played have the Penguins been this good. That series would be a fun one to watch.
