Jared Resseguie was always nice to the Sheriff’s Patrol when I had a chance to cover him with the Bismarck Bobcats. You might be interested in knowing why the Sheriff’s Patrol is writing about Mr. Resseguie. I was thinking about him at lunch today, even though he is now a freshman with the Denver Pioneers of the NCHC Hockey Conference who come to the Ralph Englestad Arena in Grand Forks this weekend to do battle with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks Hockey team.
You might think that the Sheriff would be rooting for the Hawks this weekend, but not so fast my friends. When you have a connection with somebody, you want to see his team do well. I think knowing Jared the way I do, Bobcat fans would like to see him succeed with the Pioneers. I think the Fighting Hawks will be lucky if they split the two game series between two top ten opponents in NCAA Hockey rankings. Denver comes in ranked #5 and UND #7 in the USA Today Magazine Poll.
It should come down to which team can stay out of the penalty box and who can execute the best when they have the man advantage. UND has taken more penalties then DU this season, and that must not happen against the defending national champion Pioneers. If it does, UND is looking at a long weekend, because the Pioneers will clip them with their power play and could possibly widen their lead over the 4th place Fighting Hawks in the NCHC conference.
