For immediate release.
With the calendar saying October, it was time for this reporter to go back to the Den and meet some new faces. I also had the opportunity to chat with one of the best head coaches and general managers in the NAHL, the 12 year bench boss of your Bismarck Bobcats, Layne Sedevie. Sedevie said, “it’s like having a new team this year.” The injury bug has befallen our Bismarck Bobcats. Jon Ziskie fractured his wrist in exhibition. He has been a huge addition to the team, and might be back next week. Patrick Johnson, the forward from St. Louis, MO fractured his wrist. Ryan Taylor came back from the USHL to be with the Bobcats, but even he couldn’t stay away from the injury bug. He is at home recovering from a concussion. Other returners include Eddie Shepler, Quinn Rudrud and Nico Chemelevski
Even though the Bobcats have gone 2-2 in their last 4 games, Layne was not pleased with their effort in Friday’s game against Aberdeen, but said that he was remarkably pleased with the turnaround on the road on Saturday. Layne told us that goalie Tommy Aitkin was traded to Kenai River for a fresh start, and it was tough to see him go. They have new goalie blood this year. One of them is from Sweden. His name is Erik Forss, and Layne said he was really good on Saturday night. The other goalie is Aksel Reid. Sedevie said he played well on Friday, but should have denied one of the four goals he gave up.
The Bobcats have traditionally been a slow starting team in the first half, but have come on like gangbusters in the second half. This media outlet is hoping that this is a fluky start to the season, and hopes to see the boys compete for a Robertson Cup ring. My thanks to Layne Sedevie for all the unprecedented access to the team and coaches. The fact that jeremiahboyce.com has been treated like family is no fluke, because Layne has earned my respect during the 12 years he has been behind the bench. I wouldn’t want to go to war with any other coach.
