The Bobcats and their coaching staff have good communication, going into a three game weekend. All three games are against their South Dakota rivals, the Aberdeen Wings. The Bobcats have owned the Wings all year long, and as a result the VFW Sports Center trophy case will no longer be empty. It will have the Titan Machinery Dakota Cup inside of it for a whole year at least. According to assistant coach Garrett Roth, the boys are excited about the task that lies before them. Aberdeen is ten points behind the third place Bobcats. The Bobcats have had a good week of practice, and today they went over the power play, and focused on the D-zone, all in the effort to make sure they will prepare for battle against the Aberdeen Wings. Although it is yet to be determined where the Bobcats will finish later this season, this could be a possible playoff match-up. This is why you go through every little detail in practice, because you never know who you might face in the playoffs. Garrett attributes last weekend’s sweep of the Brown Bears to playing strong on the walls and in the D-zone.
We had a chance to catch up with the other half of the bench combo, Layne Sedevie, and get his thoughts. When it comes to the boys from Fairbanks, Sedevie has nothing but the utmost respect for the Icedogs, and the way they run their organization. It is a huge weekend, because it does not matter that Aberdeen is ten points behind. There are two games in a series, and if you lose both, you’re asking for trouble. However if you take four points from Aberdeen, the Bobcats will be 14 points ahead, and would not have to worry about Aberdeen.
