The Bismarck Bobcats did not go to Alaska to hibernate for the winter, but only for a short visit to the Fairbanks and Kenai River NAHL Hockey teams that reside in the Great White North. While there, the Bobcats played four games and came away with six out of a possible eight points. They climbed back into a first place tie with Scott Langer’s Aberdeen Wings, who they will face this weekend in a home and home series that begins in Aberdeen on Friday night.
While the Bobcats were in Alaska, they experienced a 4.4 magnitude earthquake this last Friday, but it did not affect the team’s play, as they swept Kenai River by scores of 6-1 and 3-2 to go with the split of their series with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs the weekend before.
This will be an important weekend series. The Bobcats could find themselves anywhere from first to fourth place in the tight NAHL Central Division after Saturday night’s games, as the Brookings Blizzard and the Austin Bruins sit within two points of the Central Division lead also.
