Justin Verlander’s game was a thing of beauty to watch. To me, he carried the city of Detroit on his shoulders, and kept the Tigers engine going towards another World Series. Justin showed the rest of the country what an ace is supposed to do. For the second straight year in a game five situation, Verlander looked like the Tigers’ ace again. He has the A’s off balance. That is why Jim Leyland put him out there on the mound, because when you are facing the possibility of being extinct going into a pressure situation, you want Justin on the mound. Now here are the keys for Boston. We must have better pitching than what we had in the Oakland series, and we must also believe in the pitchers’ ability to pitch. The Tigers are one more series away from recapturing the American League crown for the second straight year under Jim Leyland. Jim usually doesn’t show emotion, but he was crying after the Central Division was won. We want to see more happy tears just like we saw on the night that they won the Central.
