Bismarck, North Dakota. Yesterday I was able to grab a few minutes of coach Wingenbach’s time before practice and also before the big showdown on Friday night at the Coca Cola Stadium. The one thing that stood out to me was the coach’s calm demeanor before the storm. He told me that he and coach Gibson from BHS are friends, and that they shake hands before the game and wish each other luck. As far as having Dominic, he wasn’t sure if he was going to be available, because Dominic is a two sport athlete at CHS. As of yesterday, the coach planned on using Cyril Nagurski, a junior at CHS. When it comes to what Mr. Wingenbach sees on the film, he said that “BHS is very talented, and they present a tough challenge for the Pats.” When it comes to quarterbacking, Dalton is going to have to hang on to the ball, because of the weather that is coming. When I asked him about his senior linebacker Jacob Barth, the coach says that Jacob will be a big part of the game. “Jacob has been in some big games before for us, and he would like nothing better than to beat the Demons.” Wingenbach went on to say that that BHS is expecting to attack the Patriots linebacking core. As far as what the Patriots are going to try to do, they are going to try and put pressure on the champs. When it comes to the emotional factors, Wingenbach states that “I don’t have to tell the players anything, because they create emotions for themselves.” The Patriots still have two more big games after the number one Bismarck Demons. Next, they will go up highway 83 to see if they can pull off a little magic of their own. Then they will face the Mandan Braves where they will tee up at Lefty Farris Field. As far as the Demons, after they play number two Century, they will get a visit from the Williston Coyotes at the Bowl.
