After dealing with the lowly Oakland A’s over the weekend, the Twins now look to dispatch the Kansas City pain in the butt Royals. It’s good to sweep a series, but taking two of three would suffice, because the Cleveland Guardians have been putting up l’s ever since the Twins split with them after the All Star break. The Twins will have to have a good series against the Royals and Mariners to stop the front office from selling players. As long as Cleveland continues to lose, the Twins have a shot at second place in the Central. Byron Buxton has been dealing with a sore hip, so the Twins have been putting Trevor Larnich in the leadoff spot. While the Royals are in Minneapolis, Cleveland will have the battle of Ohio, featuring former Guardians manager Terry Francona and the Cincinnati Reds. Hopefully, the Twins will continue to build a playoff run, but if they can’t make it, I expect the front office to hang on to the players they have now, because the longer the Guardians continue to lose, the better it looks for the Twins.
