With the Indiana Hoosiers laying claim to a first ever National Championship last year, gone are the days when IU had a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback named Fernando Mendoza. He is grown up and playing for the Las Vegas Raiders this fall. The question is how well will Indiana play without Fernando? Only time will tell.
I hope Mr. Curt Cignetti is not too hard on the Hoosiers this year. Just because you win one doesn’t mean you will have success next year. The Old Oaken Bucket resides in Bloomington until next year. I predict Barry Odom will have the Purdue Boilermakers ready to play. Who doesn’t want to beat the National Champions?
The voice of IU sports, Don Fischer, is almost 80 years old, so the question is how much longer will we hear the venerable voice of the Hoosiers? I don’t know how long he plans to do football and basketball, but I hope he’s like John Sterling with the Yankees and is able to continue for a few more years, and I hope he has another National Championship season.
