The first teams that we will take a look at are Illinois and Nebraska, scheduled for August 28 at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois. Illinois has 23 upperclassmen that are present for Saturday’s tilt with Frosty the Snowman. Scott Frost is the leader of the Cornhuskers, and he used to play in Lincoln. I’m expecting the Huskers to have a good season. Senior leadership and team unity will be paramount to see if Frosty can take Nebraska to Pasadena. Every team in the Big 10 has visions of coming up rosy at the start of the season. Then as teams fade, you really get a taste of the Big 10 football season. Illinois could be a sleeper in the Big 10, but like any other team in the Big 10, they have injury bugs. The Big 10 is like the SEC because quarterbacks are key. They are a major cog in a team’s success or failure. Brandon Peters is key for Illini QB leadership. He knows a lot about the Illinois program, and would be someone I would start, because he is a senior and went to the Manning Academy. Adrian Martinez is your probable starter for Nebraska. The other quarterbacks on the roster are too young and don’t have enough playing time between their ears, so I expect Martinez to start. I predict Illinois 28, Nebraska 24.
