On Sunday night the Bismarck Bobcats had their backs against the wall, which meant one more loss and their dream season would come crashing down in pieces. The Bismarck Bobcats showed resiliency and heart by having the early jump. Before the Express knew what hit them, they were down 3-nothing. As has been the case all series long, the Owatonna Express would show that they have some snipers, hitting the Bobcats with three quick goals of their own. This was game five, neither team was going to give an inch. We were going to the final 20 minutes of the series tied, but then the Bobcats would explode. Here is your scoring recap from Sunday night’s game, game number five:
First to get on the board was Bismarck’s Casey Kleisinger at 7:54 of the first.
But the Bobcats weren’t done padding their lead. John Wickman would give the Bobcats a 2-nothing lead at 4:04 of the second. 24 seconds after John Wickman scored, Nicholas Jensen scored at 4:28 of the second. Then Owatonnna’s offense came to life. Owatonna’s Dylan Porter would be the first Express player to foil David Bosner’s shut out. That would draw the Express to within two, at 3-1. Following the Porter goal, the Express seemed to get more jump in their step. They weren’t done finding the back of the net behind Bobcat goalie, David Bosner. The Bobcats would surrender another goal, this time to the Express’ Michael Palmiscno at 10:26, cutting what seemed an insurmountable 3-0 Bobcat lead to a tenuous 3-2 lead. The Express would not be outdone, getting the game tied at 3 on a goal by Cory Thorson at 11:52 of the second. That silenced a raucous VFW Sports Center and gave Owatonna fans who were in attendance a chance to get loud.
At 2:29 of the third, however, the energy that was lost by the Express scoring 3 goals was regained when Bismarck’s number twenty- four Isaiah Bennis put the raucous crowd back into the game. Then at 18:31, the Bobcats would widen the gap on a goal by number twelve, Kevin Harris 18:31 of the third. The last Bobcat goal of the night was scored at 19:41 by number nineteen, Jordan Singer, sending the Sports Center into pandemonium.
