We had an opportunity to shoot the breeze with Garrett Roth, the best Assistant Coach in the NAHL in this staff writer’sg opinion. When asked if he had been watching hockey in the Olympics, he stated “I am up at 5:00 every morning watching it”.
When it came to the Bobcats, Coach Roth and Coach Sedevie gave the players Monday and Tuesday off after they had taken two out of the three games they played against the Minot Minotauros, with a very light practice on Wednesday getting ready to host Scott Langer’s first place Aberdeen Wings this weekend. Roth stated that the Bobcats need to outwork the Wings down low and take advantage of their opportunities when presented to them. The penalty kill needs to continue with their strong play. It is one of the top units in the league, along with the power play unit which has scored a goal in seven straight games.
Once again the Bobcats need to play a full 120 minutes this weekend in order to taste success against the Wings and earn much important points in the NAHL Central Division on their home ice in their battle to make the playoffs. Their chief nemesis, the Minot Minotauros, are in fifth place, three points behind the Bobcats, and are in Austin, MN to take on the second place Bruins.
