Every season has a winner and a runner up. This year’s runner up, Purdue, was so close but yet so far. It was another year of awards for a man that I call the Big Maple, Zach Edey. Another year in which the Boilers reached the top of the Big Ten mountain but were 20 minutes away from claiming their first national title. You have to give credit where credit is due. UConn played the better brand of basketball. They were the team that was ready to defend their title and they did exactly that. On the bright side for the Boilermakers, Matt Painter was named Coach of the Year in the Big Ten.
There’s always next year! The Boilermakers have a lot of returning players, and a lot to look forward to. On Tuesday night, the city of Lafayette welcomed their heroes back to the Purdue airport. They were greeted by fans who were happy with the run that the Boilers had.
