Minneapolis, MN. There are several individuals that for the second straight year allowed JeremiahnBoyce.com the opportunity to cover the Twins and Tigers baseball game from the John Gordon press box. My thanks goes to Mitch Hestad and Liz as well as the radio voice of Twins Territory, Cory Provus for his willingness to be interviewed before game one on Friday, June 14. It is not easy to face someone that you have never heard of, or you know very little about. Like the Twins will be in the future, Cory is a champion. Provus could have easily turned me down, but he didn’t. Instead of being intimidated by a new media outlet, Provus began to warm up to this reporter and by the end of the interview, I was considered a colleague. Especially when you are told what to do by radio engineer Kyle Hammer all night long and when you are the voice of the Treasure Island baseball network. My thanks also goes to Detroit skipper Jim Leyland. Leyland was in the middle of batting practice with the Tigers before game one after his team had lost two out of three to the Royals. Most managers would say, “why are you here? You should not be here.”. But the king of the Detroit jungle stood right up and walked over to me and began having a conversation. The Tigers organization is to be commended for the way Mr. Leyland acted. It isn’t easy when you have a target on your back and are the team everyone is gunning for. I felt like a well respected veteran of the press corps because of the way the Minnesota Twins treated me. They didn’t have to do any of that. They even had my name on the media roster for that night, which speaks volumes of where this website has come, and it almost made this reporter want to cry, because I wasn’t someone from the Star Tribune or the Free Press. I was someone who earned the reputation when I covered the Twins and Tigers one year ago. I look at myself as just one person who runs a small town media outlet, who no one has to bow down to. But I guess it comes with the territory of making a good first impression. I hope to bring you Minnesota Twins baseball for many years to come.
