At the 1:12 mark of the first period last night, Quinn Rudrud scored the first goal of the game and 30th of the season, to help the Bismarck Bobcats win fourth place. Rudrud and Patrick Johnson teamed up to close Maysa Arena for the season. This was an historic collapse for Minot, who had been in first place on January 1. As a result, the Bobcats will meet the St. Cloud Norsemen in the playoffs on Friday night in the cloudy city. Layne Sedevie, the Bobcats Head Coach and General Manager, told Cory Berberian, “this is cool. I am a Bismarck, North Dakota kid, so it was way cool to give my owner, Thom Brigl, a chance to see nine lives.” Layne was overjoyed, and you could tell the win meant a lot to Him. Bobcats goalie Oscar Spinnars Nordin only allowed one goal. If Bismarck can bottle that for St. Cloud, this team might be headed to a Robertson Cup.
To the Minot organization, have a nice summer.
