JeremiahBoyce.com is proud to bring you a look at the 6-time state champion, Mandan Braves.

On Thursday they will open the defense for their title and try to add a 7th to their war chest.  I had a chance to sit down with Greg Amundson of the Mandan Braves and talk about their chance for their 7th championship.  Amundson feels confident that they can do it again, but the champ stated, “Every one brings their A game when they play us.”  When asked about who of his seniors had impressed him the most, he stated “Ali has worked really hard.

Brittany Zander is coming off a knee injury. Emily Helmers is playing real strong right now. Breanna Levi has stayed consistent and Brooke Sandau has a knee injury that will limit playing time.”  When I asked how Amundson had been keeping the Braves’ drive, he said “Play only one game at a time and don’t look ahead.  Fargo South is loaded and all the West teams are tough.”  The coach said that some of the keys to the Braves run for 7 is working on rebounding better and running their half court offense better.  The Braves coach stated that the ladies don’t dwell on the past, but rather focus on the future when asked about preparing a game plan.  When asked what scares him the most about Red River, he stated of the Knights, that they are really tall.  Amundson stated of their first round opponents, when asked if they could run-and-gun with the Braves, and he said “no, they are really patient and try to get it to the big kids.”
