On Monday night, the Detroit Tigers took the first of three games on the South Side of Chicago at Guaranteed Rate Field. The Tigers grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. The White Sox tied it at one on a home run in the fifth inning. It was starting to rain in the top of the ninth, when Spencer Torkelson hit a home run that gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, after a rain delay, Will Vest vested the Sox to give the Detroit Tigers the win. Chris Paddack had a very good game in which he was able to mix his pitches and make the White Sox younger players swing and miss. The two combatants renew their rivalry tonight, with Jack Flaherty taking to the bump for the Tigers.
