The first order of business is to congratulate a native of Port Orange, FL, Alan Gustafson, for winning Hendrick Motorsports’ 13th NASCAR title with Chase Elliott. If you remember earlier in the year, I wasn’t enamored with him after he had a fight with Adam Stevens, who was the reigning champion at the time of the incident. Alan also chose to get into a staring match with Kyle Busch, his former employer. Can you imagine what is going on in Chase Elliotts’ hometown of Dawsonville, GA every time Elliot wins? They sound their siren. As for Alan and Chase, they don’t yet know what it’s like to be the hunted. They will find out, just like Adam and Kyle were knocked off their throne. Now Adam and Kyle don’t have the pressure, and they can go after the number 9 of Chase Elliott.
In other news and notes, Hendrick Motorsports has to say goodbye to a man that started his career in 2002, the 7 time champion from El Cajon, CA, Jimmie Johnson. It was also time to say goodbye to Chad Knaus, who is taking on more of a managerial role, with a title of Director of Competition. Winston Kelly, who was a lead reporter for MRN, said goodbye to the microphone, but he is also the Director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC.
