The Bismarck Bobcats are one of the NAHL’s elite teams for a reason. The reason is their power play and their penalty kill. Both were working on Wednesday against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in Blaine Minnesota, even though it was an L for the Cats. It was their only L in the Showcase, and their overall record is now sitting at 4-1 on the season, awaiting a much improved Watertown Shamrock team, that they will see this weekend at the VFW Den. The Showcase was full of impressive new Bobcat players such as Maddox Malmquist and Teddy Richardson, and veteran players like “Pumpkin” Patch Cronin. Before this year, the Bobcats have had a hard time finishing a Showcase with a winning record. But this time, they beat the New Mexico Ice Wolves and the Anchorage Wolverines. The reasons why I think season number 30 will end up with a third National Championship is because of the players, the coaching staff, and the fans. If you have ever listed to a Bobcat game on Super Talk 1270, they say “this is the proud radio home of the two time national champion Bobcats.”
