The Bobcats are at a crossroads in their season right now as they get ready to host the Brookings Blizzard this weekend at the VFW Sports Center. When I asked Coach Sedevie if he was happy with only coming home with one point at Aberdeen last weekend, he replied “absolutely not!” I could tell he was fired up about the importance of this coming weekend. They are going to face the same team that they whitewashed 7-0 on January 6th. The Bobcats, who are in a fourth place tie with the Minot Minotauros with 35 points, need these next four possible points in a big way against the last place Blizzard. Both Minot and the Bobcats sit four points behind the third place Minnesota Wilderness.

We also had a chance to sit down the youngest player currently in the NAHL. Sixteen year old forward Alex Trombley, a native of Howell Michigan, has already committed to play at Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio. The Bobcats do not own his rights, Muskegon of the USHL does, which means that there is a possibility that he might not return to the Bobcats next season. Assistant Coach Garrett Roth said that Trombley is fitting in nicely with his new team and works hard on the little things to improve on his game. Trombley, who scored his first goal this weekend against the Wings, feels that he needs to work on getting his shot off quicker in the NAHL.

In other news, goaltender Ryan Ullan has committed to play at Northern Michigan, where former Bobcat Head Coach Byron Pool is the Associate Head Coach. The Wildcats do battle in the WCHA for college hockey.
