CHS and BHS BasketballCrosstown rivals were out for blood on Thursday night at the Civic Center.  It was a match-up that had all the makings of an upset, with number 4, CHS, taking on the unranked and defending State A champs, BHS.  The Demons won their title on the very same floor in 2008.

With players like Ryan Malm being lost to graduation, how would the Dean Smith  of high school basketball (Steve Miller) adjust?  Century got out early to a 12 – 7 lead, but the game would remain close.

Both teams were playing with a high level of intensity.  It all came down to who would break the heart and will of the other team.  Both teams countered with jabs at the other one, and exchanged the lead multiple times, before the victor could be claimed.  Esley Thorton delivered the final knock-out punch with two free-throws at the line which sent the #4 Century to an upset loss, 52 – 47.
