Talladega, Alabama. Just when you thought the racism problem was over, not so fast, my friends. This time, it strikes in the heartland of America, where nobody should be a racist. But apparently they have been following the Confederate flag, which is a no-no in this writer’s book. Just because you are white or black, doesn’t mean you should be looked at differently. Before the race, Bubba Wallace’s colleagues and friends stood with him and they walked with him to his number 43 to show that they were unified with him. Seven time champion Richard Petty met him at his number 43 car, and his crew chief, Jerry Baxter tried to fire the Mobile native up by saying, “let’s shut these haters up!”
At the end of the day, it would be crew chief Todd Gordon celebrating along with Bubba’s best friend, Ryan Blaney. This would mean all three Penske teams have gained entry to the playoffs, due to all three of them winning races in the 2020 NASCAR season. The defending champion from last year, Chase Elliot went for a solo spin, which meant that the Dawsonville Georgia native wouldn’t be able to defend his win from last year. The 2019 champ, Kyle Busch, who is crew chiefed by Adam Stevens, remains with a zero in his win column after finishing 22nd. He will have two chances to knock of the zero in his column, Saturday in the Pocono 325 and Sunday in the Pocono 350. The Pocono track has three turns that are similar to Indianapolis, which is no longer owned by the Hulman George family. It is now owned by Mr. Penske, who Brad and Joey have to deal with when they need new contracts. Ryan Blaney is also a Penske driver. The three compadres answer to one name, Mr. track owner Roger Penske. Brad Keselowski is in the last year of his contract, and is trying to get together with Mr. Penske and his people.
