Even though he is a veteran signal caller, Sam Bradford cannot be effective when he is not protected and is put on his back by opposing defenses time and time again, which happened twice in his first two and only series he played in the preseason game in Buffalo last Thursday night. How many times can we expect Bradford to pick himself up off the turf before some type of injury happens to him? The revamped Vikings offensive line must do a better job of protecting their fragile quarterback, or he will be soon joining the quarterback he was brought in to replace, Teddy Bridgewater, on the sidelines also.
I realize this was only the first of four preseason games and they don’t count in the standings, but come on Vikings, if you are not going to protect your quarterback again this season, what can your fans who wear and bleed purple expect of you when the regular season starts on September 11 against New Orleans? There must be improvement, according to Head Coach Mike Zimmer, and I totally agree.
