On Wednesday morning at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck, I had a chance to go behind the bench and talk to Veteran Head Coach Layne Sedevie about his team’s play so far in the first half of the season, and we learned about his thoughts on his Bobcat team. Coach Sedevie is relatively pleased where his team is currently residing in the NAHL Central Division, which is currently in fourth place with 33 points but only four points behind second place Austin who they will host this weekend for two games starting tonight. Coach Sedevie hopes to earn four more points by the end of weekend play.
If the Bobcats can come away with those four points, Coach Sedevie will be purring through the Christmas break this year. He warned the Sheriffs Patrol that his team “MUST” be ready to tackle the Minot Minotauros in their three games they will play coming out of the break before the calendar changes to 2019.
Sedevie was pleased with the Bobcats sweep in Brookings two weekends ago, but when it comes to playing their rival Minotauros, he wasn’t sure why the Bobcats are splitting their series with their rivals from the north. In last Saturday’s game at Minot, the Bobcats had the lead going into the third period, but would succumb to the Tauros pressure. He did state that the Bobcats were dealing with injured players on Saturday night, but that was no excuse to the head “Cat”.
In my opinion, the Bobcats were given a bad deal with more road games then home games so far this season. They have played only 10 home games so far, but they are not making any excuses when it comes to the schedule, as that will work to their advantage for the 2019 part of the season.
