Head Coach Layne Sedevie takes pride in having Bobcat players that come from the Capitol City. One such player currently is Kirklan Irey, a product of Century High School. Sedevie had a lot of positive things to say about the first year Bobcat who has already committed to Division 1 Bemidji State University. Sedevie doesn’t think that the 17 year old Irey will be in Bismarck for the next three years, as he told the Sheriff’s Patrol that it will not surprise him to see Kirklan moving up to play in the USHL before heading to Bedmidji State.
The Bobcats are coming towards the end of their 13 day layoff between games. They will again play their Highway 83 nemesis the Minot Minotauros in a home and home series beginning Friday night at the VFW Sports Center in Bismarck and moving to the Maysa Arena in Minot for Saturday.
The Head Cat Sedevie told this writer that the team has been working on 5 on 5 and power play opportunities as he feels this is were the Bobcats need more improvement to improve on their 5-3 record in the NAHL Central Division. The two teams split two weeks ago in a home and home series, each winning on their home ice in their first two meetings of the year. Sedevie is expecting both games to be real tightly contested this weekend against the veteran Minotauro squad.
