It’s hard to complete an undefeated season, just ask the New England Patriots, let alone in college sports. It is hard to remain perfect. If Iowa can do it, more power to them. I think this Big 10 Championship is a play-in-game for the college football playoffs. It will be interesting to see if the Committee actually takes last year’s national championship team and gives them another chance to defend their title, one would think that they would.
On the other side, you have a team in Michigan State that went into Columbus and handed the defending National Champions their only blemish of the year. They are going into Lucas Oil Stadium, trying to deal with a Hawkeyes team that is looking for their 13th win of the year. If they get it, they are automatically in the college football playoffs. How can you deny a team with 13 wins into a playoff? The one thing that I will be watching is Connor Cook, from Michigan State, and the bevy of receivers he has. It is going to be interesting. Cook is going to face a mighty strong Iowa defense. I saw Connor the other night on ESPN, watching the Spartans men’s basketball team play Louisville. They asked him about what it was like on campus. He said that life was all good, and it is a great day to be a Spartan, hopefully he can win it in Indianapolis.
I think it will come down to the last possession. You are looking at two teams that will battle tooth-and-nail, and need to be extra careful when they have the ball. Michigan State 24, Iowa 23.
