For a young man, who came to the Sioux out of Winnepeg, MB, CAN, he is living a dream. Not only is he wearing the “C,” but he is also only twenty years old. Jonathan Toews played a brilliant series, putting one of the greatest players, Jerome Iginla, and the Calgary Flames’ flame out. For Toews, and the rest of his teammates, it is on to round two, where they will face another tough Canadian team, the Vancouver Canucks. Let’s give credit, where credit is due, to the coaching staff of the Chicago Blackhawks. Despite the Flames pressure on Blackhawk goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and being out-shot, 44-16, the ‘Hawks had a rock in goal.
How nice would it be to see a North Dakota reunion in the Cup Finals? First, Toews, Zach Parise (NJ Devils), and Travis Zajak (NJ Devils) must make it out of their respective conferences. The New Jersey series is tied at 3 with the Hurricanes. I wouldn’t mind seeing Toews and the rest of the ‘Hawks play Chris Chelios and the defending Stanley Cup Champion Red Wings in the West Finals. As far as the Devils, I think they might match-up with “Sid the Kid,” just so long as one of the teams with a North Dakota player is celebrating in June. I think it would be interesting for you, the readers of my site, to have something to talk about with your Sheriff.
