London, England – Monday afternoon was a match up of two teams and two nations that are known for different things. In America, our past time is baseball. Meanwhile, our neighbors to the North are known for hockey. The United States women’s soccer team had a goalie whose hope we were relying on and going into the match up she had not allowed any goals in quite a while. That is, until she ran into Christine Sinclair of Canada. Early in the match it looked like all hope was lost because Ms Sinclair made sure the United States wouldn’t rely solely on Solo. The Canadians had one goal in mind, to stop the United States run of being golden girls. Despite Sinclair, the US had more heart. This was a match up that went back and forth. For a while on Monday it looked like the United States was in trouble until Abby Wambach stepped up on a penalty kick and calmly buried it, tying the game at 3-3. Alex Morgan would have the last heroic move of the match when she would give USA a 4-3 win on a header. This will go down as one of the most memorable Olympic moments of the year.
