Detroit, Michigan. Last year, Alex Avila was an All Star. This year, he has been trying too hard to impress the Tiger faithful, to give them what they have come to know and love. What I see with Alex is a young man who wants to see the baseball, but he is over thinking himself. We know Alex will do everything Mr. Leyland asks, but maybe he just needs a break. Maybe the Tigers should just go with Gerald Laird for a while, and let Alex watch, because Laird has a World Series ring, which is what the Tigers are so close to, they can almost taste it. We will see if manager Leyland will start Gerald Laird, or will stick with Alex the cat.
