The University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux put on a furious rally to get by the Wisconsin Badgers, 3-2, to claim the West Region Championship in the Cole Center (the home of the Badgers). As a result, the Sioux have a date with the Boston College Eagles in Denver at the Pepsi Center (the home of the Avalanche). Wisconsin scored the first two goals after a scoreless first period. Jamie McBain stuck a needle in Grand Forks native Jean-Philippe Lamoureux’s vein. The Badgers weren’t done drawing blood as Cody Goloubef went to the operating table on Lamoureux again and found a unsuspecting patient. The puck went behind Lamoureux and off his back for a 2-0 hole. The Badgers would be forced to go back in their hole as the tribe found their hatchets. The first member of the tribe to scalp Wisconsin was Rylan “the Chief” Kaip at 3:33 in the third period pulling the Sioux within one and forcing the Badgers to get rid of their arrogance. The next member of the tribe to tomahawk was Ryan Duncan less than a minute later. The two teams battled the rest of the third period evenly before the Badgers’ death. Andrew Kozek delivered the final smoking gun at 1:47 into overtime sending the joyous Sioux into the “Mile High City,” where they look to send the Eagles to the vet.
