Bismarck, ND- After surviving a scare Friday night from the Thunder, the Bobcats controlled the play on Saturday night, taking it to the Thunder early and often. The Bobcats offense got going early with a goal from Jason Fabian, assisted by Nick Jensen at 9:26 in the first period, making the score Bismarck 1, Albert Lea 0. But then the Thunder retaliated tieing the game 1-1 with a goal by Albert Lea’s number 88, Brian Nehring. Then the Bobcats reclaimed the lead on a goal by Denver, Colorado native, Ryan Jacobson. This would the first of the two goals scored by Jacobson, which made the score 2-1, Cats. In the second frame, there would be more Bismarck offense. The first of the second period goals was scored by Bismarck’s number 25, Tim Serratorre. Bismarck wasn’t done yet, however, as the domination continued with a goal by Casey Kleisinger making the score 4-1, Bismarck. “The Professor” would take the Thunder to school again, making the score 5-1. At the end of the second period, Bismarck would continue to pour it on the Thunder, with a “quick” goal by their own number 9, Aaron Quick, making the score 6-1, Bobcats. In the beginning of the third period, Bismarck came out flying, putting the nail in the coffin of the Thunder, with another goal by Aaron Quick, pushing Albert Lea on the brink of elimination. An Albert Lea goal scored by Sheldon Taylor would come too little, too late for the Thunder. Tyler Klein, of the Cats, got in on the act with a goal of his own, making the final score 8-2, Bobcats. Games three and four will be in Albert Lea with the first of the two scheduled for April 9, 2010 at 7:30 pm. You can listen to the game on 1270AM.
