On Wednesday morning, the Sheriff’s Patrol had the opportunity to sit down with Carter Korpi, from South Lyon, Michigan. It ain’t easy being a newcomer in the NAHL, especially when it comes to getting used to a new city, but there are plenty of veterans on the Bobcats who took Carter under their wings, or paws, if you will. When asked what he likes to do when he’s not playing with hockey pucks, he said “when I’m not on the ice, normally I’ll go in the weight room a couple extra times a day. And then I’ll hang out with my roommate Danny Magnuson, and we’ll play PS4, playing NHL and all that. And then I have a job on the side at Midway Lanes.” When asked about his favorite part of Bismarck, Korpi said “so far my billets have been great, and I can’t complain. Obviously, this is a good program to be in, and so far its been great. Everyone gets along nicely in the locker room, and the guys on the Bobcats team all give a lot of support to each other.” The Sheriff’s Patrol asked Korpi what he misses about Michigan, and he responded, “probably my family and my high school. My high school was an all boys Catholic school, and I played for the team there. We won a state championship with that team. I miss the team back there a lot, and of course my family as well.” When Carter was asked about his favorite part of the game, his response was “probably hitting, honestly. I mean, I love scoring and I love making plays. I’m just a physical player. I’m not the 6 foot 2 forward, but I like to lay the body around.” The Sheriff’s Patrol would like to wish Carter and the boys good luck on the ice against the Minot Minotauros, and for the rest of the season.
