Frisco, Texas. After a thrilling 3-2 win over the Wenatchee Wild, coached by former Billings boss Bliss Littler, who was one of the Bismarck Bobcats’ biggest nemesis over the years, the Bobcats were faced with one of the most daunting tasks, trying to take down the league’s best, the Amarillo Bulls. The game went to overtime because of a goal from a Russian sniper, Stan Dzakhov. But, in the end, too much time in the penalty box cost Bismarck a chance to solidify themselves as a Robertson Cup team. Now, all the Bobcats have to do is hope that Wenatchee loses by a lot to the Bulls, which is a strong possibility. The Bobcats must not fall into the “why us” trap, and rely on some of their magic and make this a 2-1 tournament. Which is not going to be easy, but if anybody can do it, Coach Layne and Coach Garrett and the players we love can. When Layne Sedevie takes a look back on the season that was, he will have two things that he can be blissful about when recruiting new Cats. One of those things will be meeting his former coach, and the other thing will be representing the Central Division in the playoffs for the fifth season in a row. If you have read my previous articles on the Cats, you will know that I feel very highly of the former Billings Bull and the former Bismarck Bobcat toiling behind the bench. There is no reason that the former Billings Bull Sedevie should hang his head, with or without the Robbie. This has the makings of a season that those of us who cover the Cats on a weekly basis will never forget. Six straight titles are not out of the question, as long as Sedevie and Roth are behind the bench for Mr. Brigl’s team. After the tournament is done, the recruiting begins.
