Whether you like it or not, Big Zach is back, and the Purdue Boilermakers are 6-0. Number one Kansas lost to number four Marquette at the Maui Invitational, which this year was held in Honolulu. Purdue defeated number seven Tennessee to earn the right to play Marquette for the championship, and they defeated all comers to become the 2023 champions. Zach Edey was named the most valuable player of the tournament on Wednesday evening after the championship game. Fletcher Loyer poured in a season high 27 points to go along with big Zach and help the Boilers play complementary basketball. The Boilers are clearly number one, as in number one in the country, and that makes me very excited, because even though it’s early in the season, Matt Painter’s boys are painting a lot of winning pictures in West Lafayette.
